National Rally 2006

Dear All

I have been asked to pen a few words to bring this years National Rally to a close.
I must first thank James Tointon the landowner and the staff at Manby Motorplex who understood that come what may the event would be held regardless of the conditions.
Any club that has hosted a National Rally will understand our smugness at having "Got away with it". And this is largely due to our guests. I thank you for your good behaviour and patience. There is only so much you can plan for, and every host relies on the good will of the participants.
As usual we called on the expertise of members of other clubs to assist and I thank them for their unstinting devotion to the event and their good humour.
We hope you all had a memorable Rally, whether it was the fierce competition, the Rally site or Hazel's grim determination in the face of losing her dignity, but not her sense of humour, I hope it's a good one. Most people have praised us for our toilets, I would please ask you to remember us for more than our ability to handle your waste.
Emails of thanks are coming in, and if the one below is anything to go by then we got some things right.
Again thanks to all who assisted or attended, I'll see you next year at the end of May somewhere.

Hi there,

My wife and I have just returned home from a most enjoyable long weekend at the 2006 ALRC Rally at Manby, and would like to express our thanks and appreciation to the organisers and members of both the Clubs for the excellent job they have done.

We have been attending the Nationals since 1989 and have never written to the organising Clubs before now, but feel this one deserves our comments. The acknowledgement of receipt of our application was appreciated, the directions to the site were clear, the camping site and general organisation was good and the trials sections, for both RTV and CCV trials, were a credit to the people who set them out.

The catering was also very good, and the main Beer Tent was a pleasant change from many of those we have visited where, by the end of the event, they are like a quagmire.

We think Lincs Loos deserve a special mention, as generally the main ‘horror’ of many Nationals is the state the toilets are allowed to get into, so that by the end of the event they often present a major health hazard. This time, they were emptied, cleaned and serviced constantly so that even on Tuesday morning they were still in a clean condition.

Would you please pass on our thanks and appreciation to ALL the people who were involved in making this event such a pleasant and memorable one. Well Done!

Cheers, Barbara and Keith Whiteside.
